Steve Parkinson
Steve's enjoyment and early instruction in woodwork came from his father and uncles. They were raised in a mining community where making and mending things wasn’t a hobby; it was just what you did by necessity. For Steve, it became a passion and a means by which to express himself creatively.
The utilitarian roots of his creativity probably account for his need to make things that have a function as well as an aesthetic appeal.
Whilst the grain of wood is intrinsically beautiful, Steve likes to introduce colour and pattern to compliment it. The technique he is currently using is his version of a Japanese technique called Yosegi.
