Catherine Hoskin

Catherine completed a Foundation Course in Art and Design at Chelsea College of Art, London, before returning to her home county of Cornwall to gain a BA (Hons) in Studio Ceramics from Falmouth College of Art.

For several years, she worked within this discipline producing hand-built stoneware vessels. The contrasting bands of textures and colours, evocative of the Cornish landscape, were the most predominant features in her work and appeared more important to her than form or function. Trading clay for other mediums, she began to explore a new rhythm of working through painting, drawing and mixed media collage, which has since become her preferred medium in which to work.

Her miniature mixed media collages are hand created using resin, acrylic paints and fragments of printed text.
